Yes, I miss my child
He thinks he is a man
In my eyes, NO......
For he is just getting
His feet wet, he is just
A babe out there in the
Blood soaked streets
A matter of time and
It will be jail or the
Morgue...I hate to
Sound morbid but
A REAL mother knows
Reality when she sees it
I wish I can speak to him
Just one more time but
What can I say that I have
Not already said, sure
He remembers what I
Said, he pulls up the
Pants when he sees me
And if he has enough time
He plays the disappearing act
Sometimes I wonder why
God allowed my heart to get
So close to him like this
This was not suppose to

I see Homeboy trying to gain
My undivided attention
When he is alone, seeking
Guidance and an bent ear
All I can do is pray for him

I want him to know that

among her throne she sits
she's been refined by fire
gets tested every day, in every way
holds up, for nothing can break her
no one can take away from her
she's as strong as a tower
i look at the diamond each day but i
don't worship her as an idol
she's a card with a diamond
stands alone in an unknown sphere
she is no longer in the deck for
she stands apart from the folx
the diamond shines, brilliance,
radiant, ever-glowing with the coals
and tarnish removed
this diamond is sparkling for
it cannot be bought in the finest of
jewelry stores, so don't even look
she struts down the boulevard
and they all wonder how she can maintain
to shine and not get corrupted
it takes inner strength and courage that
only her CREATOR can give her and THEY
cannot take away; Diamond's ready to rule
FOR SHE HAS EARNED HER ROYALTIES.

Dark Shadow

as i pass by that window i notice
that the shade is gone
it is no longer up, so he can peek
it is no longer down, so he can sleep
there is no shade.

as i pass by that window i notice
there is no light so he can see
so he can read my letters
look at my photos so that
he can step outside of the box

as i pass by that window
there is no televison on
no music blasting for the hood
it is dark, complete silence
i got no warning, my SON moved
and i have tears.

i can't look up and watch him
for all i see is a dark shadow
in my dreams, don't wake me
LET ME SLEEP!

Monologue to A Closed Womb

Hello I say to my womb
Why have you not opened
Where is my seed and why has
It not produced what i want it to

Other women have seeds of fertility
Oh, but I am not supposed to compare
Each one of us are uniquely made
But I just want my equal share.

I know God you have a better plan
One that I will be ready and euipped for
My child, Diamond, my precious child
Keep on knocking , knocking on that door!

Bride Doll

twenty three years ago she stood
flowers in hand
waiting for her prince to stroll down the aisle
smiling, full of dimples is she
he possessed that charm
but no one opposed and she wondered why
they knew it would not work
bride doll was young
she gave it her all
and now twenty-three years later
she's free....
